SUBPRIME

a house no longer a home

The project was a photo inquiry into the foreclosure crisis occurring in Lansing, MI at the time. Over the course of several months, I set out to photograph as many homes in the Lansing area as possible. The photos are supposed to reflect a snapshot-like feel, playing off photos my mother used to take of our home. The reminiscence of the snapshot is meant to make the viewer not to think of the home as empty, but to bring to mind lives in which began, ended, and the many memories shared. These homes now stand as a testament to the lives lived within until it is bought and it can begin a new story.

Some photos are shot on black and white 35mm film and others are digital with film grain added in post-processing.
